I love biking in the winter but theres times when it's very hard to do, what does one do when the bike wont move in the snow? Why not outfit the bike with skis and things, for a while i've been thinking about skis but didn't know, I thought about a cut snowmobile ski, put the wheel in the middle on a handle to push ski up when not used and down when used, or make a ski that looks good, Footsteps are leathle to my bike when they are ice, giving how long my bike is theres lots of possibilitys, I noticed it has much more power in winter then my other bikes, it does "burnouts" lol very well, the only thing stopping me is the rear wheel, how will it fend in deep snow with a ski, maybe i'll make a custom track, ideas and stuff are welcome.

Heres what I use.

It's been done but it's not really worth it unless you're cycling somewhere where cars can't even drive, say North of Iqaluit or over a frozen lake in northern Labrador. Otherwise you can get by just fine with knobby tires in packed snow, studded tires on the ice and plain old road tires when the road is clear which is the case in most places that get snow most of the winter.

This is what you need: But not practical for city riding.

My journey to work is abit of no cars and cars, no cars is deep snow with foodsteps thats why I wanna make it so I can lower ski and raise it, I seen that kit from the link, looks cool, but I could make that, I might make a rear wheel kinda like that, the good thing about this long bike is The rear end is quick release so I can swap the back of the whole bike with another one, What I might do is get a track about a food wide of lessand make a rear track that can also be lifted when not in use like the ski, lots of work but would be pretty neat
