Fifty Plus (50+) - Will you be decorating your bike for the holidays?

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

I have a small wreath I'll probably put on the Globe, but I bet some of you go much further than that. Lights, camera, action! Let's hear about your holiday-adorned bikes!

My club will probably have a Christmas Lights Ride/Party one evening in December for which I will decorate my bike and myself with lights and stuff to celebrate the season and check out the local house decorations.

With the Big Jingle Jubilee Holiday Parade, I always decorate my bike.

But most important of all is the Santa hat on my helmet. It stays on all during the holidays and promotes much good will among harried drivers. So I see it as a safety feature. :thumb:

How do you afix it to the helmet so as to prevent it from coming off?

Zip ties of course. I put small holes in the hat behind the fur brim and loop zip ties through the holes in the helmet and through the hat.

Zip ties fix almost everything. They are even good for temporary snow tires.

My wife wants us to get battery powered Christmas lights for our bikes. I'm looking, but I'm cheap and haven't found much that's affordable.

That would work best with disc or hub brakes, near as I can tell.

Put a bike on the front of the house a couple of years ago, but I guess that's off-topic. Sorry.

The holidays are such a complex and emotional topic for many; my bikes are no different:

- My two commuter bikes are already decorated for winter -- they are both sporting a thin layer of dried-on mud and road grit.

- My Davidson does not celebrate Christmas (it's still pissed that titanium is not mentioned in the Bible).

- My Italian Catholic bike (the Tommasini) is hibernating for the winter. I'm afraid to disturb it until spring for anything as trivial as a bit of holiday cheer. It usually wakes up and gets active around Lent, and will be dressed and ready to go on Easter.

Does Rust & Road Salt count? If it does then my Trek is all decked out. :)

Happy Trails

My hand made lawn bike will get a red blinky on back and a green one up front.:)

When you ride a red-white-and-blue Schwinn mountain bike, you don't need no decorations for national holidays and other patriotic days.
