Please forgive the noob question... I'd like to get a basic, inexpensive cyclocomputer for my indoor trainer. Obviously, the magnet would go on the back wheel. Will any of the cyclocomputers out there work for this, or do I need to look for a particular one? Is the setup different than on a front wheel?
Thanks, in advance.

Cateye Strada Cadence (http://www.cateye.com/en/product_detail/407) gives you cadence and speed and attaches to the rear wheel. It is available for less than $40.

I did this last year. I just bought the cheapest thing I could find and mounted it with small pieces of duct tape (old road bike, so don't care much about the finish). Finagling the magnet sensor on the rear was a bit tricky, and the display unit is on the stem since it doesn't quite reach the handlebars, but it works and it was cheap (about $10).
Some folks scoff at trainer miles, but since my trainer's power curve is harder than being outdoors, I feel justified. I think mileage is a good motivator. If I hop on for "just an hour" and see that I'm at 16.4 miles after 60 minutes, well shoot, why not make it an even 20?

Yep! That's the one I have too. Works like a charm on the Trainer or on the road. Got it off Amazon for $30 (I think).

Cateye Astrale 8 works well, and a Sigma 1606L wired also works well.
Altho, the Sigma needs the separate rear wheel harness, or a LBS that's good with a soldering iron.
Just get the cheapest one. You should be able to get one for $10 or less easily. If the wire isn't long enough to reach the handlebar or stem, just put the computer on the top tube or something...
maybe he wants to use on trainer for cadence not miles thats what I would do.
