I was wondering what you guys thought about this bike. I was planning on converting it cheaply, so I'd probably just replace the crankset, chain, rear tire and bars.

I rode an Olympian for years -- we hybridized it back in the late '80s when that was the thing to do. Great frame, if a bit heavy.

also, search reveals this: http://www.bikeforums.net/showthread.php?t=169506

I have my buddy's conversion (exact bike) sitting in my house right now.

What I've noticed: Orginal crank has both rings perm. attached, frame isn't too light, but not bad, rides very nice. He blinged it out with gold paint on the new wheels and some fancy gold bar tape... it actually looks kind of nice.

I think switching out the entire crankset wouldn't be too much of a problem

Buy it. Quick. Before it's gone. The tires are worth the price.

And from what I understand, decent bikes don't exist for that price in that area. It's probably already gone.
