I have my new light but am a little disappointed to learn that the manual states to not use turbo mode for longer than 10 minutes.:( I have a question about the use of 1.2 volt photo rechargable AA batteries as opposed to 1.5 volt alkalines. Any problems with using the lower voltage batteries?:o

Solution: don't read the manual. There are tons of people, myself included, that use it until it dies in turbo. Don't worry about it.

I have ran with it as long as an hour and it has not overheated. I have ridden my bike with it as long as 2 AAs will last and it has not overheated. I have stood virtually still for 15 minutes at a time and it has not overheated. Overheating is most definitely and conclusively not an issue with this light.

As everyone else said, disregard the 10-minute limit. And use NiMH rechargable batteries, not alkaline!

Get rechargeable batteries.

It will get warm to the touch, but not much warmer than that. Ride faster to cool things down.

Don't sweat it, but get the best rechargeable AA batteries you can find. The best AAs I have found are Sanyo 2700s, although I recently got some Maha Powerex 2700s that are rated very highly.

It must have been something their lawyers made them put in. Unfortunately in this litigious society everyone need to CYA.

Overheating is not an issue.

Yep. No problems on overheating at ALL. I also use the Sanyo 2700s and the Powerex 2700s. All good.

I do tend to use the third highest setting to save juice so I can ride longer without changing batteries and switch to Turbo when I am really in dark places. But that's just me.

I've done full turbo with no overheating at all too. And I live in the hot and humid Singapore.

I just did an indoor runtime test on mine on Turbo. No problems at all.

the air will keep the head plenty cool when riding.. Turbo use is fine..

It does not say that.

Don't skip reading the manual, read it more carefully.

It says "Under high ambient temperatures" at the begining of the sentence. That does not mean, "with cooling air from a bike ride flowing over the light on a nice day". That means not moving on a very hot day.
No contradictions in the manual, no mistakes. Also the heat may slowly lead to a short life of the LED. This will not be apparent for a while. This may convince many to use turbo in a warm house and let the light get too hot. They may be shortening the LED life without knowing. They may have a big surprise in a year. The light may not be as bright. No way to know in advance. It depends on how hot the light gets, that depends on the ambient temperature where it is run on turbo. It would have to be pretty hot on a bike ride to overheat the light with all that air cooling it off. If it's cold where you are riding don't worry about it.
