During the whole last week I've been in a lot of pain with this pinched nerve of mine. I had some pills for the it tho, enough to last till my next doc visit (Tuesday). With the pills, the pain was reduced to a 75%. It was a low dosage of the stuff, but enough to let me walk around (slowly). During the weekend, I had to work and it was very painful to sit on a cubicle chair for 12.5 hours a shift. So to take the edge off, I took one or two extra pills during my shifts. It worked, it took the pain away. My first day off came in (Sunday) and I was kinda OK.
By Sunday morning I was at home and I ran out of pills. Slowly and steady the pain level went up till the point of disability. I could not walk around or sit down. Even laying on the bed was painful. I spend the night crying, praying and cursing. I could not sleep trough the whole night.
Monday morning came in I asked my wife to call my doc and see if she could see me a day early (more pain killers please!). She had a spot in the afternoon. I waited the whole day laying on the bed, counting the seconds in excruciating pain. In the afternoon, wife, baby and me got on the car. We picked up our oldest son @ school and followed to the doc. And OH MY GOD!!! Every time the car hit a bump or made a turn I felt like my bones were being braking. Sixteen times I had to ask my wife to stop the car for a few minutes. At one stop, on the shoulder of the interstate, I got out of the car and lay on the grass for a few minutes. I can't describe shame.
My children went crying the whole trip because they could not understand what was wrong with Daddy. They are used to a strong Dad never cries. They have seen me in very bad shapes before, with a lot of bruises, bleeding from small bike accidents, etc... But I've always swallowed my pain, give them a smile and tell them "I'm OK". This time I could not. :(
I finally got to the doc and I now have enough drugs to stone a football team for a month... Very potent stuff. I was finally able to help my wife around the house (we just move and there's a mega-mess). I hope she likes it when she wakes up and find the living room, the kitchen, the laundry room and the office in perfect condition and with no more boxes from the move.
Now it's Tuesday morning. I haven't slept in the last Saturday afternoon, around 36 hours. Strangely, I'm not sleepy. But I'll try to force myself to sleep since tomorrow I have more medical appointments to attend (MRI, Blood tests, etc). This was without doubt the hardest/most-painful Monday of my life. I'm glad I have drugs now. I've learn my lesson. I'll never let myself run out of drugs again! :thumb:
