Foo - Can I just tell you how cool the iPod touch is?

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

I'm diggin' it. Here I am at school, sitting in the student center without some huge computer, PMing like there's no tomorrow. The spell check is decent and, while not quite as easy as a full keyboard, all I need to carry around with me is this little cell phone sized device. Pretty stinking sweet. :D

Indeed it is. I has one too. I like it.
Well, I don't have one so I don't wanna know! :notamused:

It is pretty cool, I have an 8gb one that I got when my uncle bought a new laptop. Used my student ID to get a discount and some free software and an ipod touch.
Comes in handy at school since I can surf the internet in the back of class during lectures:D

I see I'm not the only one who does that then....

I tried one in a store once and hated it, though it was quite awhile ago. I wish my Nintendo DS had a phone and better internet access, as homebrew software can make it do pretty much anything else I want.

Dust .. you bites it.
Can I just tell you how cool the iPod touch is?No. Absolutely not.
Kidding. Yeah, they sound like fun. All of the fun features of the iPhone without being dragged down by the cell phone and related fees. My first thought when it was announced was ripping a bunch of Simpsons and Futurama DVDs to the unit's native resolution, and load the thing up. If I had a regular train/bus/carpool commute, I probably would have done so already. Internet access without having to lug a computer around would be neat as well.

Aren't you in school and didn't you just post a thread last week about work study/financial aid?
And this is what my tax dollars are paying for?
Oy.
Thanks for the wake-up call.

 Actually, if you lived in CO, your hard earned dollars would've gone towards it. I bought it with money I was paid while working as a public employee of CO :)

There's nothing small about the iPhone / iPod Touch. It's huge. Massive. You're right though. It does stink. :p

Cell phones are for people who can't yell loud enough.

Hey, that's cool!
I may consider an iTouch myself.
Wait, that didn't sound right.

I got my ipod touch last week and it's great!
There are plenty of free wifi spots in Toronto, I downloaded TapTap and Super Monkey Ball, and watch youtube videos until it runs out of battery power. Good times!
My wife wanted an iPod so I talked her into a 16GB Touch. :p She uses it for music. I use it for everything else. We can't get iPhones here in Vermont (yet) so the Touch is the next best thing. I'm no fanboy but I must say this is a very cool gadget.
I'm a tad annoyed that I can't get the SDK for Windows (not interested in dual boot, sorry), but I'll survive.

The 5GB monster with the manual trackwheel, B&W LCD screen, and full sized Firewire connector? I have one of those too. I just replaced it with a hand-me-down 2GB Nano, but after seeing The Girl's new Zune, I think I'm getting rid of the iPods entirely and getting one of those.

I have an iphone that I bought last week. I don't live near wifi, and it works for what I want it to. Tghis technology should be way cheaper though. Also, apple is far too territorial with their apps and stuff.

I still have my realtively clunky Sony Micro PC (only available in Japan).
But it has wayyyy more processing power than any phone, anywhere. Hell, it's got a core processor!
Plus the touchscreen is actually big enough to use multiple windows. And it has fingerprint recognition passwords.
There. I feel much better now.:)

Works as good as the day I bought it.

I bought mine to combine my pda and ipod. it's not quit as useful as my palm. but for reading books it is fine. so far no good alarm aps or reminders like I had on my pda. but I can listen to audio books while working and riding and read books when not doing such things.
