My wife and I are from Chicago and will be travelling to Cincinnati this weekend. My question is does anyone know of any nice bike routes or organized rides for Saturday, preferrably on the east side? We are looking to do about 50 miles. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Definately drop into Loveland, a burb of Cinci. There is a bike path that tip to tail runs ~70 miles. I think Loveland is about 10-15 miles into the total. All paved and plenty wide.

YOU can pick up the Loveland trail in several spots. There is one right off of U.S. 50 in Milford and another in downtown Loveland. Check out their website for access points. http://www.lovelandbiketrail.com/ This route is pretty nice and you don't have to contend with auto traffic other than a few street crossings.

If you want to do a organized ride check out the Cincinnati cycle club web site at http://www.cincinnaticycleclub.org, I think there is at least 2 rides this Saturday..
Have fun..

Yep, Loveland Bike Trail is nice, and on the east side. You'll want to take I275 to the Loveland/Indian Hill exit, left off the exit. This will take you all the way into downtown Loveland, you'll start to see signs for the trail. Best place in the Cincinnati area for an enjoyable ride. I'm no help with an organized ride. You may want to contact www.cyclesport.net or perhaps or www.montgomerycyclery.com, either the Beechmont or Montgomery stores on the east side. They might have some group info for the area.

How busy is the Loveland trail? Is it easy/safe to ride at a decent speed on the trail? (i.e. 17-19 mph) Or is the trail primarily for a leisurely type ride?

The trail is safe for going any speed, but around Loveland it is a little busy so have to be careful there and when you get out alittle you can go at a good pace.. Also there is a ride that starts at 8am and does 40 miles. It starts route 28, 3.5 miles from I-275 on the left side at a bowling alley and called the breakfast ride... Have fun...
