I have 2 08's but one is a expert the other is a pro. This will replace the Pro. They are running some kind of promotional deal on them so it was a good time to buy. I have heard it is much nicer then the previous version so we will see.

That's the SL not the SL2, right? Colors are SL2, but it doesn't have the '2' on the fork...

My SL is indeed much nicer than my expert from last year. It's noticeably stiffer.

I've been happy with my '08 SL, just trying to decide whether to get the '09 pro SL (same as this?) or SL2 team

Looks nice, but I just can't see myself spending money on a once/year upgrade cadence.

Of course, I just dropped about $2200 on lumber... so my priorities are different ;)

Yes it is the SL. They also come in white, but not on this deal. I like this one better anyway.

I will be able to sell the 2008 for what I paid for this. The 08 has the Specialized crank which I dont like so it goeswith the frame and fork. Hey WR, its yer size too.;)

The Pro-Mo on this is $1250 right now. The SL2 is something like $2900. I liked the Expert so much I just cant see spending that much. Check with your dealer, I dont think its just a local thing.

Sean, was this a team deal? Or something that anyone can get?

BigSean

I believe it is for racers, so you can get it too. If your local dealer cant do it I know mine will. Ask your dealer about the special promo on the Pro SL frame buy. My dealer said they had to call to get it done.

I'll give my LBS a call. I switched teams this year and we might be getting a Felt deal, but I've coveted a Tarmac for awhile now. Thanks for the info.

The SL frame feels the same to me as the SL2...i just got mine about a week ago...leaps and bounds ahead of the 08 expert i was on.

I went with the white as it's the fastest color ;)

what's with the ugly looking specialized seatpost? reminds me of those cheap vintage ones... the mechanism at the top looks heavy. is it for noobs who find adjusting the thomspon elite style too difficult?

It's not heavy, but I didn't really like the post and it didn't fit the rails on my saddle so I swapped it onto my other bike.

It's like the cheap vintage ones, except better in every possible way - lighter, easy to tighten or loosen, infinitely fine angle adjustment because it relies upon friction instead of notches (the allen key tightens a cone, kind of like a bearing without balls). I haven't used one for an extended period of time, just fiddled with it in the shop, so I don't know how it performs over the long term, but it's definitely light and the adjustment is just a different style. I can't imagine that it's any worse than a Thomson.

ZeCanon

the specialized seatposts are infinitely stupid. Adjustment is a pain. Yes, you can put it anywhere you want, but you spend half an hour flicking the front or back with your finger to get that perfect angle. I much prefer a two-bolt clamp like a thompson, for infinite adjustment AND easy precision.

That said, I still have the one on my specialized. Once I got it right (took forever) I just left it.

The SL this year is a sick frame. Like I said before, you'll love it. It rides much nicer than the 08's.

Heh, good to know. It's a non-issue for me in any case. When I get a new seatpost - and I will, because the cheap Specialized ones are also crap - it'll be either a Thomson or a Salsa (the budget option). Both have excellent clamps and are reasonably (in the case of the Masterpiece, very) light besides. The hell with carbon seatposts.

I cant wait to get it built. I will have to ride it a few times, but I will put it away after that and train on the expert. The seatpost doesnt bother me. As ya said once its set its fine.

The bikes must be awesome, but *personal preference* I just can't get used to the arched top tube. Looks a little strange to me. I'm sure I'd be a convert if I ever ride one, but I can't say that I'd ever want to leave my CAAD9. It's funny, I have no frame lust at all right now. Wheel lust, yes, but frame lust, nope.

I do have to say that the paint scheme/full getup of crash's bike is awesome.

(I also have to admit that I like the frames a little more every single time I see one posted on here :) )

its a 56 and weighs 15.97, but there is weight to lose. long cables, handlebars, seat, and with my Zipp tubulars is should be down to about 14.9ish. finding a lighter seat and cutting the cables would help. the seatpost is still 440mm long also.

just don't care enough really. super bike though, it rides as nice as the Parlee Z1 at the shop i rode.

Well I picked up the new frame yesterday. Wow what a frame. Totally changed from the 08 model. Its being built up now. Hope to have it in a week or so. Ordered some things for the build so the holiday may slow it down a bit.

I posted this yesterday in another thread but may as well followup here to since it's been bumped already...

The SL2 team arrived [yesterday]. I still need some parts, so it will probably be a week or two before I can build it up.

http://www.photoscene.com/kimandsteve/images/4428.jpg

I ordered 3T bar, stem, and seatpost, and I'll get another Arione CX when I decide which color I want.

The frame and cranks including the derailer hanger, braze-on tab, and seatpost binder is 1690g, 20g more than my SL. The uncut fork (not including any headset bearings is 366g, 30g more than my SL's. I was hoping it would be lighter than my SL, but taking into account not needing a FD clamp it's a wash. The 3T stuff is a little lighter than what I have on my SL so it should come in a little under 14 in race trim.

I've heard conflicting things now about the team, whether the only difference is the headtube height, or if it also has a beefier bottom bracket shell. That might account for the extra weight.

I didnt weigh it, I will do so when its built. It is definately beefier with almost every tube being bigger, and the BB is far bigger then my 08 pro and expert. The headtube also looks like a tree trunk.

I have 2 08's but one is a expert the other is a pro.

Why do/did you have an Expert and Pro? I mean they were the same frames in 08, both AZ1 Fact 8r, with different parts hanging on them. I have nothing against the bikes, I have an Expert myself, but wouldn't see the reasoning with having those two models. Now with your new one there are obvious differences between the two. Nice bike BTW... :thumb:

I can't wait until I'm out of college and can buy things. Those are beautiful frames. You think 16 lbs is heavy, my bike still weighs 18 lbs.

Until then, I'll just ride my Fuji and get faster. I'm probably gonna have to get a new wheelset soon though, because my rear hub is coming apart. If only I had money.

Wait till you get out of college and have debts slash bills to pay.

I still try to save atleast half of what I earn, but I could spend all of it without much penalty. I don't need to support myself or anyone else.

This is how everyone gets into debt anywho...

I won't have much college debt. I already have a good job lined up in the ~$60,000 range starting out, with good benefits. I live in a condo my parents own and pay very little rent on. I have an old car that runs fine. I won't have anyone to support or anyone to pay off. I should have plenty of money to spend on schwag. And I plan to do so while I'm single, because once you get married I hear she takes your money away.
