found a local shop with a late 2000 bianchi daytona with full campy daytona (remember they had to change the name to centaur) & look pedals for around $1300. seems like a great deal, but i'd appreciate any input - its an older bike so what am i giving up if i were to get a 2003 or 2004 model in approximately the same price range (<$2k)? the daytona has sweet paint, and is AL with carbon fork & seatpost - i'm a bit concerned about giving up in the wheelset - a lot has changed in wheels over teh past few years - i really don't want to pick up the bike and then have to turn around and get a new set of wheels.

anybody know this bike??? or other rides i should look at? thanks in advance.

matt

I dont know much about the Daytona. But it is a BIANCHI..... So with that said it has to be a good ride ......

I own this bike. I've been very happy with it. Bought it new in 2000 for $1800. It's the second Bianchi I've owned. I wasn't really familiar with the Levitation wheels. I don't know what they would equate too nowadays.

I dunno, 1300 is not chump change. Is the bike new, and has just been sitting in the shop for 4 years, or has it been used. That would be a major factor for me.

I dunno if that's an unbiased opinion... :p

bike is definitely brand new, with the warranty & everything. for some reason it didn't sell and has been in the shop since early 2001.

txtg - how is the ride? are you riding the same wheelset or did you upgrade? what about the stiffness in the bottom bracket/rear triangle - do you ever feel it give or creak or anything? i've got a marin steel bike and often when i'm really mashing on a climb or something i hear some creaks. also, how do the carbon fork & seatpost do absorbing the little bumps? can you still feel the road or is it a pretty smooth ride? anything else you can tell me about your experience with the bike would be really helpful.

thanks,

matt
