Hello:

I'm considering picking up a second hand road bike for road racing / fast riding in the senior 50+ groups (the old guys, I know...), i'm not a big fan of criteriums but I like climbing and long road races. The Fuji Team Issue and Team Super Light seem available for reasonable prices. I'm looking for a lightweight frame, I've ridden steel, aluminum, and titanium and I'm happy with all of them - thus the fact that the frames are aluminum isn't an issue for me.

However, I'm heavy at 6' & 185 lbs so I'm most interested in your comments about frame flex when hammering. I know that the stock wheels on the Team Super Light are probably not the best for my weight, but I have another set of wheels I'll use.

Looking forward to hearing what those of you who've ridden these bikes think.

Thanks,

Howard L. Snell

I test rode a Fuji Race Super Light. Felt.. well.. very light and nimble.. but I'm a little heavier than you (190) and the bike scared me. The stock wheels are noodles and NOT to be used for training or everyday riding... the same goes for the tires... and the frame? Well, at my weight, I wouldn't expect it to last long.

It was a great deal on an 03 at $1600 with FSA cranks... but the cost of buying new wheels for training, and frame fears led me elsewhere.

I haven't tried the other Fuji bikes that you've listed, but they do make some good bikes.
