Foo - Milk and honey for cats?

A couple of my coworkers and I have 7 cats at work that we feed. We give them milk and cat food. Is honey (mixed with the milk) okay? Should the milk be warm?

Cats are carnivores, not lactovores. After weaning no milk unless you want to wind up with a sick mess on your floor. At least for all three of my cats. Nix the honey too. A recent report showed that cats have no sweet sensors.

Why are all you guys' cats feetless?


I have a tribe of mixed coons outside, mama is a black cat, daddy is a huge blue coon. I keep the possums well fed on leftovers not suitable for the dog, Sly. The possums feed the cats because they are dumb enough to sleep in the cellar. It's the circle of life.

There is no reason to manually feed a cat. They are they world's most efficent predators (unless you feed them and they get fat and lazy). They also don't give a damn about humans. That's why I don't bother to name them. Evil, evil criters.:D No more mice though. Kudos to the fuzzy evil tribe.

#4 is collecting parts for a frankenstein squirrel/chipmunk/rabbit, evidently they age best on the screened in porch. He's a crafty cat. It's why I won't let him use the refrigerator or have access to powered tools.

Milk makes them crap out the cat food without digesting it, cats are lactose intolerant. Skip the milk and they'll be healthier.

Maybe that is why hitler won't drink the milk. He must be the smart one.

For every one cup milk, substitute one half cup Bailey's Irish Cream.

Set up dry food and water feeders - easy and better for them, just make sure you keep both going so they develop a feeding routine. If you have a young one that needs some help, try Nutrical

Set up a specific area for feeding the cats. This may require innovative construction of special feeding stations, unless you are feeding at your home, in a garage or other sheltered area.

Feeding should be done daily. Dry feeders need to be refilled and kept clean from debris or dirt. If you are feeding in a public place, food plates need to be cleaned or picked up each day to alleviate any complaints from neighbors. Also make sure fresh water is always available.

Put out any wet food you will be feeding the cats at a regular time each day such as first thing in the morning or after your evening meal.

Determine if there is enough food by what is left over. If there is no food left over, add more until not all of the bowls are completely cleaned. This guarantees the cats are getting their fill.

Keep your supply of dry food plentiful. Remember to budget for the large quantities of cat food you will need to purchase. Also consider adding cat treats to your supply of cat food, just for a change of taste for the cats.

Just like people that are lactose intolerant, most cats love milk until it starts shooting out the other end. :lol: If you want to give them some extra calories, there are lots of better options. Cats don't have cholesterol problems (carnivores, made to deal with a high cholesterol diet), so just put a little lard in the dish or something. Just not too much, don't want to upset their stomachs.

If they are outdoor cats and know what to do with meat, it's always good entertainment to watch animals go crazy over the raw contents of a giblet bag. :D I fostered a jack russel that'd work himself into a panic for a chicken liver.

Tuna cat cause crystals in the urine, especially bad for male cats. Okay as a treat once in a while, but not a good idea on a normal basis. :twitchy:

Heee hee, she used to like to help me with my work, when I lived with her.

Her name is TwoFace, AKA 2Face, AKA Toofus (rhymes with Doofus), AKA KittyPoo, AKA KP. Best cat ever. My sis got her from the neighbors because they didn't like her -- because she is too friendly. She just wants to sit on your lap and purr at all times.

Oh yeah, her favorite foods are vanilla haagen daaz, rice crackers and voles.

If they haven't had it in a while, they should love it ---- and in return give them the trots like they never had before. No milk. If you want to spend the money - upgrade to a better dry food.
