Electronics, Lighting, & Gadgets - Garmin Edge Data Transfer

I haven't had my Edge very long, but this evening when I connected to my computer the transfer said it was successful, but it didn't transfer any of today's ride to my computer even though that ride was listed in the history on the device.

I repeated this a few times to no avail. Finally I just cleared out all the history and reset the device. I will use it again tomorrow and see if it is fixed, which it probably will be (hoping) but I am curious if this is something anyone else has experienced and if there is an easier way to fix it other than the drastic data-wiping measures I used.

Which Edge are you using, 205, 305, 605, or 705?

There was a bug in the 605/705 software version 2.4 that could cause this problem. The files are recoverable and a reset is not necessary.

Are you running Windows Vista? If so you have to run Garmin Training Center as an Admin or it won't save any new data.

I am running Vista. It is an Edge 305. I haven't been having problems with it saving data except this one time. Today's commute downloaded just fine, so I don't think I have any permissions problems. Probably just a fluke corruption issue, or at least that is what I am hoping. It is reassuring there aren't a bunch of comments with people saying, "Oh, yeah, that happens to me all the time."

Like was said before, you have to be running Training Center as administrator. I spent about two weeks trying to figure out why I couldn't save the stuff I had just downloaded. Believe me if it says it downloaded it and you can't find it, you have a permission problem.
