Mountain Biking - What bike parts do you plan on getting this year?

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
-Front and back Hayes 6" Hydrolic disks.
-Shimano WH-M575 wheelset
-New 9speed Cassette
maybe -
-Shimano XTR front derailer
I've got enough parts for 3 or 4 bikes, but I might get racks and bags for my Raleigh. Ragbrai dreaming on such a winter's day.
I just figured out that I have more $ in my bikes account than I thought. Dynohub, maybe!
New Cassette, new chain, new wheelset, new handlebars, new seat, new seat post, new cycling shorts, shin guards, and hopefully new cranks.:D
Well let see for the Stinky I plan on buying a BlackSpire Headset, Core Rat fork guards and replacements for any thing I might break! :D
For the Hardtail nothing unless something breaks.
For the new 20" pegs, front brakes, street tires and grind guard for the hub.
For me Azonic freeride pants and DC Metric shoes or maybe some Osiris Flux shoes?
Thats it I guess, ask me again next month and I am sure the list will be longer.

Just bought a new stem and bars in the January sales, after that it's probably going to be chainset, or wheels/hubs then maybe a fork...
I'm turning into an upgrade obsessive :D

Man, those shoes you mention have zero padding and soft crappy soles. I wear Converse One Stars mostly, but for RIDING, I have to have a good quality comfy skate/bmx shoe. Who cares what the "buttnuts"wear, I use shoes for what they are made for, RIDING. Why should I deprive myself of a good quality shoe just because some dip$hit wears them. Dont be so caught up in all that image and who wears what CRAP. Not wearing something just because some f*cknut wears it is just as, if not more stupid, than wearing something just because said f*cknut wears it.
Oh yea I also have a pair of Diadora(sp?) spd shoes for riding the hardtail.
End rant.
Steps off of SoapBox.;)

Ha ha. I made Spic-Mick rant. I was just giving you a hard time man. All the kids here on base wear DC and stuff because of "fred durst". It sucks.

All DC shoes aside, I gots my eyes on a King 20mm hub, 8" Hayes hydros and an Uzzi DH to hang them on.
Look out below
Fubar, do you still want those bearings?

Profile Racing Hubs laced to some Azonic Butcher rims or some of the new Atom Lab rims. I'm also thinking about getting some Chromoly 3-pc. Cranks.
Easton MonkeyLite Low Riser Bar.
Thinking about a whole new bike! Budget constraints you know! Gotta sell some of my gear first!
What else? Boring stuff, new chain, new cassette, ...etc.

Some how or other I walked into my LBS this lunchtime and came out clutching a reduced Shimano Deore front derailleur... it wasn't intentional you know ;) ... the big problem is I'm going to have to treat myself to the SRAM Rocket XL front shifter to go with it... ah well ... :)

My list includes:
1. XT Shifter set.
2. XT Rear Derrailleur when I bash off the current one.
3. New chain
4. Maybe a new fork (R.S. Duke)
OR...... I could just save up all the money I would have spent, add it to what I have now, and wait until next summer and pick up the Giant NRS 2 that I've been set on for so long.

Someone's reviviing old threads I see.
I bought my new bike late last fall, so I'm good for awhile. I might also get a Diablos stem, I'm always looking for a new jersey or some moto shorts.
Maybe try out some new tires!
Disc Brakes
New jersies
Easton CF riser Bar
new grips
Dads getting:
New tires
New seat
Manitou X-vert fork (after seeing how well mine performed after a season he decided to dump his sorry excuse for a fork)
My old riser bar once I get the easton

hmmm, well Im thinkin another bottle cage, and more lighting, both for the 24h.
Bar ends, maybe I like the short straight ones. Maybe a set of tires, I like the Conti Explorers...
I was thinking about either buying a Scalpel frame and throwing all the parts from my hardtail on it, or buying a big hit freeride bike. I'm thinking the reasonable side of me is going to make me choose the Scalpel.
I'm looking at converting to clipless <shakes head> Oh the Humanity! so shoes and probably a couple sets of Eggbeaters (I'll be looking into it more LATER) I'm probably going to dicth the Float on the Rockhopper and get something with a real spring on it. Other than that I'm set for right now.

If all things work as planned I hope to get a new road frameset and move my Campy Record 10-speed triple over to it. Torn between a new steel Scapin and a custom HH Racing Group Ti. Both with carbon fork. So many good bikes out there to choose from.
I got new wheels for my fast tourer as a birthday present (Hope hubs, Mavic 520's stainless spokes)
Also got a new 8 speed cassette and chain
Will need to get new brake blocks, chain, and planning to invest in ergo levers so need levers, front and rear changers.
Also front lowriders.
For the Flying Scot I'm going to need to change over some of the componentry from my other bike but want to upgrade to age related Campag, and build new wheels on a set of old/newstock Campag hubs. I think I might try to build the wheels myself.

XC tires: all I've got now are heavy stock knobbies and some semi-slicks, I need some nice knobbies
Stem: wanting to look like a "pro" gave me a sore back and shoulders last year... I need a slightly more upright position for comfort, and better technical handling
Handlebar: I cut mine down last year (too wide for my shoulders), and managed to cut one side more than the other... stupid. Some new grips would be nice, too.
I'd be upgrading more, but I'm buying a road bike this spring- which takes a good chunk out of the bank. Next spring I'll get a new XC bike and convert my current one to a singlespeed for a fun bike. :)

I'm thinking about going tubeless. If so, i'll probably go Crossmax.
