I am new to cycling and I am reaching out to cyclocross and commuters who live in vegas to get local advice and what not.

check www.mcghies.com (http://www.mcghies.com) and look under the teams for cyclocross. We've been meeting at Desert Breeze park on Thurs. and Sundays at 7:00AM. Come on out, it's a lot of fun.

Google on the Las Vegas Bicycle Club. They have organized rides several times a week. I'm sure you can find other cyclocross riders there and can find information about commuter routes. There are some parts of the valley that are difficult to commute in because of heavy traffic. Try getting from directly south of the airport to directly north of the airport. It's not safe and not much fun.
