Bicycle Mechanics - will this set of rim and hub fit?

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
i have a 10 yr old rockhopper. i wanted to replace the rim & tires. i saw this on ebay and was wondering if it will fit. currently i have 26x1.95 on my rockhopper. so not sure if this will fit. any ideas?
700/38C with JOY TECH HUBS & ROAD TIRES. Originally for a Mongoose bike.
Will I be able to fit these rims and tires? and also will i be able to just transfer my rear cassette over to the joy tech hubs?
While they might actually fit the rockhopper, there may be serious problems getting the existing brakes (I'm guessing cantilever brakes) to work with 700/38 rims. Which means probably finding some kind of sidepull brakes that'll fit in their place. Just one more thing to consider.
If you're just looking to make the rockhopper a better road performer, you can always find skinnier slick tires in 26" size.

yeah that's what i was worried about.. i know for sure the brake part will probably be a problem. as for the slicks... any type you would recommend? i'm open to suggestions... ;)
i measured the inner rim width and it's 25mm wide. so i am wondering if i am able to fit a specialized nimbus armadillo 26x1.5" tires on there.

They will not, unless you fit a mtb hub to it.
If it did, good luck getting brakes to fit it.

well... i've discard the idea of getting this set of wheels. instead.. i'm going to invest in a pair of slicks for my mtb. gotta go visit my LBS to see which ones fit. but damn.. i forgot to bring my front wheel with me.. grrr...

I have used the Armadillos. I have been very happy with them.

yup, that's what i keep on hearing. i'm looking at the nimbus 26x1.5" but not sure if it will fit. the inside diameter of the rim is 25mm... so i'm not 100% sure.
