Got the 888R instead of the Dorado MRD X-Works. With the money I saved might buy another wheel set!

Holy high up front end. You gonna get the flat crowns from Go-ride to drop that down?

BTW....droooooool :)

Thanks guys! Maelstrom, I don't know, it sits nicely with me sitting on it, with the correct sag. This fork is soooo sweet. You feel like you can bomb over/through anything. I really like having the 8"/8" combo.

If you notice I put the RC w/Pro-Pedal back on. My next upgrade will be a Ti Spring. Any one else got any Ideas? I'm running outta upgrading room.

Oh yea it weighs 41lbs now.

You could leave it as is :D...you already have a smoking ride...you gotta tell me how the shock feels on that thing. I want to upgrade mine to a pro-pedal (I am not going to the 8in upgrade kit yet)

Na my tall brother... You gotta go 8" you'll love it!!!

Well if it rides well with 8inches on trails too with the propedal I might just upgrade. But currently the 6in with regular shock bobs more than enough for me :)

Like I told you before. With the stock shock (Fox Vanilla R) it bobs pretty bad. I bolted on the big link and the pro-pedal and it made a big difference. I'm trying to adjust to not having SPV on the front fork now. But man it rides so nice.

Maelstrom

Droool...ok now I just gotta find a place to buy the shock (and maybe linkage) :D

Its pretty sweet, but it aint no demo 9  :D ;) Man it was such a nice day out today and I rode sooooooooo much. How much total have you spent on the bighit so far? What fork was on there before......cant really remember. :D

And those hope brakes......ERRRRRRRR!!!!!!!

Well I just got out of a cast. I'll be back in the saddle soon. I have spent a lot of time on my bike. I had the 04 Slider + on before the 888R. I'm going to get a Ti spring for sure, and maybe another wheelset.

I weighed it at my LBS and it came in at exactly 41lbs

Just for old time sakes Klein, post a pic of your old big hit and your new demo 9. Maelstrom put one up of your big hit with it's super tall seat post lol ;)

Does the Biglink come with a Propedal shock or did you have to buy that separatly?

BlackDiamond
04-05-04, 08:15 PM
No, BikeTyke if you buy a new one from Specialized it will come with the '04 Vanillia RC w/ pro-pedal.

Post your big hit guys!!! Need some upgrade ideas.

Cool. I think I'm gonna get one now. How aboot some Goodridge Brake lines for your beast eh? And maybe a Diabolous Seatpost and handlebar.

Maelstrom

Here is my tall seatpost. :D...Can't wait to get my thompson. I have some parts I still want to upgrade...

In order of priority
1 - cranks
2 - shock (maybe the biglink)
3 - fork

Then the bike will be more or less complete. I would like to buy a second fork (a sc) so I can transfer between a trail bike and a dh bike.

Here's mine right after i put the fork on it last fall. Funny story. My GF bought me the fork as gift and I rushed to a LBS to get it put on. I waited like 2hrs in the shop to get it put on. The next day i get up to ride and it snows. It was the end of my season. So I had to wait almost 6mo to ride it.

Did the same thing myself. Bought the bike. Had 2 weeks on it and it snowed :D

ummm...water bottle cage? Thats a joke right. That thing will get ripped off too fast :)

BikeTyke

The water bottle cage is for the quick jaunts around the block and some urban riding. I don't like wearing hydration paks for quick rides. And I get thirsty very fast. And besides, I'm not doing anything big enough to worry about it getting ripped off. Also, Mael, did you ever get the chain guide on?

Maelstrom
04-06-04, 12:14 AM
No..I never got it on. It definately doesn't fit the ISGC mounts. If anything I will take it, mount it on my roast and buy a MRP for the bighit (which I hear works better on the bike) or I will wait for my buddy to send me the different plate and play with it some more.

The bashgaurd is sweet though :)

Can you use the Evil bash guard with the MRP Guide? I'm looking at getting a chain guide for myself.

BikeTyke, do me one favor....If you have not already done so yank those reflectors off the wheels. They do more damage than good for downhill or trail riding. I've seen them cause spokes to bend/brake. I water bottle cage is ok. I mount one up sometimes to do night riding; gotta hold that battery somewhere.

It only takes money. I work hard for my money, and my beautiful wife lets me spend some of it on my bike. Now if only I could get her into DH ;) I'd have another project bike.

Just a few quick questions-

1. Does a seven inch fork make much diff. to the geometry with out the big link. I want to upgrade my fork but don't know if it will stuff up my style?

2. What is still stock on your bike Black Diamond?

BlackDiamond
04-15-04, 02:57 PM
Hopper,

That depends. If the seven inch fork you are talking about is the 7" 888 then yes, it will slack out your head angle. Something like a Super/Jr T or 04 Slider + will only increase your head angle about 1 degree more than what you have now. It will not be a notible difference. But man the 888R is a pretty damn nice riding fork ;).

Why don't you get the "Big Link"? You'll find it improves the way the bike handles and pedals; no really it will. The Vanilla RC w/Pro-Pedal is much better than the stock Vanilla that you have now.

Stock on my bike? Hmmmm.... Ah yes, the wheels :p

Can you use the Evil bash guard with the MRP Guide? I'm looking at getting a chain guide for myself.

Just get the complete evil guide....why mix it up like that? The evil ring is a single outer ring.....are you going to be running an mrp ring on the inside?

BikeTyke
04-16-04, 12:55 AM
It is because of availability of parts. I can get a MRP LRP for fairly cheap, and my LBS has the E-13 bash guard. Doing it this way cost less than if I was to get the E13 DRS w/ ISGC guide mount plates. So I get the smooth shifting of the MRP w/ the cool bash guard of the e13.

BikeTyke,

That should work just fine ;)
