Does anyone have any data (or may be able to point me in the right direction) that describes the size of the U.S. power meter market. I am specifically interested in how many folks have purchased power meters (i.e. % of bike owners or even % of triathletes) and what the growth rate has been over the past several years.

I suspect the number of power meters outside the racing community is pretty small. A couple thousand dollars for a hub or a crank is not something that is going to sell very well. I would guess if it was significantly cheaper than that (1/10?), the market would go up a little, but still would mostly be limited to racers.

I thought about that, but who would want a device that constantly indicated you were a poseur? "How many watts max today?" "200, personal best"
