I had ordered a silver Vilano Light 20" folding bike on eBay the other night. It arrived in just two days via FedEx at a lady friend's house yesterday late afternoon. I promptly unpacked it, and removed all the bubble material.

Upon closer inspection, I noticed that the paint on some areas of the frame where the bubble packing touched, was "rough". It is as if though, they were in a hurry to pack the bike, and didn't allow for the paint to dry thoroughly. Anyway, you have to take a close look in order to notice that cosmetic defect.

Of course the folding mechanisms were very tight, and I had to use a little bit of force to unfold the frame's hinge. This is no longer an issue since I've folded, and unfolded the bike at least a half a dozen times, and applied some Tri-Flow oil. The hinges now operate smoothly.

Without going into detail about all the adjustments I had to do, I test rode the bike, and I am pleased. First of all, I like the ergonomics with the bottom bracket installed in front of the seat tube, instead of the bottom like my Qile Duo folder. This allows me to generate a little bit better torque to the pedals, and I can also remain seated while comfortably placing one foot flat on the pavement. It is also quicker, and more responsive, and you don't "feel" the suspension as much as the Qile Duo.

For the money (A little over a $100 bucks), it is relatively light; though not in the same sense as a Swift, or a Dahon MU SL naturally. It came in at about 29 lbs. I think that I may take off the kick stand which in itself weighs almost a pound but it's no big deal. My other folder weighs in at 43 lbs., but that is "all up weight" with all it's accessories such as, fenders, rack, tools, lights, full water bottle, bike lock, etc. That bike is set up for commuting, and general use, so it's going to be heavy.

The Vilano will be my choice for bike club rides, and general recreational/fitness, fun type of use. The lighter weight, and responsive performance will see to that:)

Regards,
Edward
