Hello
I was building my bike and I recently found a problem with the parts I bought. I have a race face turbine or turbine lp (square tapered) crankset, and I was trying to fit the crankset in a Shimano UN-72 (xt) square tapered bottom bracket. I think it fit but not perfectly, so I was wondering is the bottom bracket i'm using suitable for the crankset I have, or should I spend the extra money on getting the race face cromo bottom bracket? Is there even a difference in sizing or compactability? Thanks for all your help
What exactly is it not doing right? Do you not have enough clarance to your stays? If so you need a longer b.b spindle. Do you have to much? Then you need a shorter b.b spindle. A Turbine square tapered crank arm should fit a UN72 b.b just fine.
I have the same setup and it works fine. Hunter is right it all depends on your spindle length.
There ARE subtle differences between the tapers on square tapers. In particular
Campy differs from Shimano and back when I used a TA it was different from Campy.
So if there is a subtle wobble in the fit that may be the reason and also a reason
to try a more compatible BB. D,,,n proprietary equipment! Steve

The Race Face square tapered crank is 100% compatible with Shimano square tapered BBs.

Is your crank new or used? If it is used it is possible that the crank arms are worn to the point where they don't fit correctly anymore. If they are new then everything should mate up fine.
