Fuji Roubaix 2006. Now gotta get a groupo. Thinking SRAM rival or 105, Black. Also given that I cant really find 9 speed stuff, I might have to get wheels too.

Or I might just swap components from the existing bike and buy a new groupo at a later date. Decisions Decisions.

Cervelo would be pretty awesome but in the meanwhile this will be my budget roadie for a few years and I might convert my other bike to a rain/TT bike.

I understand.

How much was it? Would you know how much the complete bike is? I've been wanting to get myself a new road bike, but I had to turn down my budget over the last few months.

dunno about budget - that should be pretty sweet once it's built up right!
do you know what wheels you'll get?

The frame was $310 shipped, after using the live.com 20% discount. The complete bike, back in the day was 1400 or so. If I can get that 105 10 speed group for 480 and a set of $200 wheels, that should be sub 1K. I already have a post, saddle and stem. Might need a new bar though. Rival would set me back another 120 bucks or so.

The dude also had a 2005 Fuji Pro for sale arund 250 or so.

I would really like to get Soul 4.0s

Yeah. So would a set of 404s :p

wow - they look nice, and yeah that color would be a great match.

I think with killer wheels that will be an awesome bike.

I doubt I'll have dough for a new bike for some time. I will probably try to throw some decent wheels on my current ('02) bike if I drop some more weight and don't declare bankruptcy by '11:rolleyes:.

Nice frame!

I think STP had some old Easton bars for dirt cheap. Upon checking, they have one size/style left for $23 (here is link (http://www.sierratradingpost.com/p/0,55175_Easton-EA50-Ergo-Road-Handlebar-26-mm-.html)). It's 40cm and judging by your frame size, I think you'll end up either 40cm or 42. They have easton stems dirt cheap too.

As for componentry, I would also look at 09 Centaur @ $612 (http://www.totalcycling.com/index.php/product/parts_accessories/groupsets_road/grc7_centaur.html?action=currency&id=USD) (current exch rate). Campagnolo is just my preference and the centaur is on par with ultegra price-wise. Veloce is just under $400.

I was just going to recommend Total Cycling, as well. ****ty world economy for the win! If you go Campagnolo, they have great deals on wheels, starting at $125 for a pair of Khamsins.

I haven't tried Sram yet, but I like my Centaur better than the Shimano stuff I've ridden. I also thinks it looks a bit better. The Shimano shifters look like weird horns to me...

I've never ridden modern Campy. I'm thinking I'd like ergo better on climbs (little thumb thingy)...dunno that I'd need 10 cogs but people also say Campy is less mushy and more precise than comparable 105/Ult/DA.

It is precise. I like it when I'm sprinting because it's so easy to shift. No hand waving crap, it's all just at the flick of your thumb.

Cool....supposedly the SRAM is optimized for sprints cause you can ping in the drops.

I'm gonna duplicate this post in Road and see how bad I get flayed alive:rolleyes:

Ah thanks for the heads up. I might have to get that. I have never ridden campy and I am enamored by SRAM. All my tools are shimano and my existing 9 speed hub as well so I am tempted to stick with Shimano. I priced a black 105 groupo at Wiggle.co.uk for 460. That sounds like steal and I might wait for them to get Rival back in stock.

Total cycling has rival for 600 bucks or so. Sweet!

Yeah, it's just personal preference. I think the Campys have an older look to them.

I don't like the way the Shimanos stick up.

Ahh...bulky. I think the Shimanos look bulky.

If this thread stays on topic, it may get moved to Road Cycling.

yellow has such a low atomic weight that if you paint something yellow, the thing painted weighs less than it did before you painted it.

Or it could just be that I ride a yellow bike and I am a wattage cottage?

I don't understand why an absence of 9 speed stuff would necessitate new wheels

UnsafeAlpine

a 10 speed cassette should fit a 9 speed hub.

Actually, good point. Looks like SRAM and shimano cassettes are compatible. Removing and installing cassettes might get to be a hassle if I do it too many times but should be ok.

They are, and 10 speeds do run on the same hub. :)
