DJ Q-bert

I watched a documentary about Skratchcon and DJ Qbert got a crew of DJ's together and they recreated a song by scratching. It was very cool. Would love to see that again, but I cannot remember what it was called.

OP had a good post...liked that. Was the movie, Scratch (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0143861/)?

May well have been. Went deep into the scene, showed B boys, digging for records, all kinds of stuff. It was cool when the DJ collaborated to create a song instead of battling.

Q-Bert, that's a name I hadn't heard in a LONG time. One of the best, most definitely!

Back in the day, I hung out with a bunch of DJs in the Filipino party scene in the L.A. area. Majestic Productions (Ray, Paul "The Man", Elmer (DJ EMI)), mostly, and Act IV (Dane, Rob, Joel), Spectrum.... This guy, Tom, got together with a some of the other guys and we had United Kingdom where we rented out Old World in Huntington Beach and Hollywood Live in Hollywood. Man those were the days...4 turntable mixes, DJ What, DJ Curse, Rhettmatic, DJ EMI, Paul the Man, Nilo. I remember setting up the fog machine into the AC ducts and aiming the laser right at the front door. 40' trusses with lights, gels, helicopters...good times, great friends.

DJ What and Rhett are part of the Beat Junkies.

To me, Rhett was what Hip Hop is all about.

My boy, Paul the Man, used to have this mix where he'd start with En Vogue's line "Free Your Mind and the Rest will Follow" and cut right into PRT's Rock this Funky Joint. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cRFUrpCdiDg)...I wonder where that tape is...
