When my daughter did an endo on her bike after coming down a hill, many years ago, her front brake malfunctioned and locked up her front wheel. A witness on the street said she landed on her head and left shoulder. Her helmet cracked in half on impact, and was held together only by the outer plastic coating. She had severe road rash on her left shoulder, a broken left thumb and swelling on the face, but no head or neck injuries. She stayed overnight in the hospital for observation but then went home to recover in less than a week. I dread to think what would have happened to her if she had not been wearing a helmet.

I tend to reduce my respect for folks who use the term "pond-scum lawyer."

Hasn't this subject been discussed before?

I work with lawyers; many of them are nice people, but others make one understand the impulse towards the Shakespearean solution.

+1 I think it says a lot more about who says it than it does the lawyer.

I had the same wreck about five years ago with the same result. My older bike ( Lacking 'lawyer locks") lost its front wheel when i hit a big bump at 20MPH. Landed on my head and shoulder, I suffered no major injury largely due to the helmet. The Doctor did not even diagnose concussion, though in retrospect, i did suffer a mild concussion.

Lessons learned: always wear a helmet. and anytime you land on your head, its gonna hurt.
