How is RT 9336 Through the Everglades? Any potential issues with riding it as an out and back from The East Main Gate to Flamingo and back?

I haven't ridden it, but I know that it's a known bicycle travel route. This link might help:

The road inside of flamingo is pretty rough, 40 miles. The center of the road is in good shape. There is not much traffic on that road but you probably wouldn't want to ride down the middle of the road. The view is pleasant though.

Thanks Jess, Maybe Ill throw some 25's on the road bike and run them soft. I appreciate that info.

We just rode this today - very rough for 38 miles (each way.) We were running at full pressure, and it was rough, but not unridable. On the return, there's a tiny strip of smooth pavement at the shoulder. All that time practising holding your line will come in handy -- it's about half a foot of smoothness.
There is a marina store at Flamingo to get water and limited snacks.
Another fun loop we just did was Shark Valley off of 41. Short (15 miles) but we spotted a gator about every 100 feet. The first 1/4 mile had lots of pedestrians, but they thin out rather quickly.

Like others have said, the road is a little rough at times. It will feel kind of like a washboard and you'll wonder how many bolts you'll have to tighten when you finish.
I would avoid it in the summer time unless you like being chased by horseflies - they'll draft off of you and land on your rump!
The scenery is classic Everglades. It's a pretty impressive ride if you look at where it is in Google Maps. You really are out in the middle of nowhere.
It's worth doing at least once. ;)

My plans did change drastically. On day one I went out for a "quick" ride up A1A from Lauderdale where my resort was to Palm Beach. Met up with a pack of riders for the up trip and rode back with another guy I caught up with. I had so much fun I just did the same ride all week. I did take 2 days out to go mountain biking. We hit Oleta in Miami and Markham Park in West Lauderdale. Both were truly outstanding riding areas.
