may be a silly/simple question but... how do you bunny hop while in motion on a fixed?

You have to wait until Easter Sunday for best results.
That (Easter) has to be it, 'cause it's sure a chore for me. I can get all of two inches in the air if I think way ahead and the stars are in perfect alignment. It ain't exactly like leveling the pedals and just lifting everything like on a geared bike. Easter it is, then, and that's only days away.

Very good question, I tried once after about the 3rd time ever on a fixed. The only reason I tried then was because I forgot I was on my fixed bike. It wasn't pretty and I almost crashed. Now I try to pick a clean line around or in the case of RR tracks over the obstacle.

It just takes practice. You're not going to be able to clear park benches or anything, but you can bomb curbs all day long. Put more focus into pulling with the arms, and let the clip(less) do their own thing. You have to learn to pull up on them no matter where you are in the stroke, and do it evenly or else you fall down go boom. Just find an empty parking lot and alternate practicing bunny hops with track stands, riding backwards, or whatever, and you'll get it.
p.s. Don't practice in public, or you'll end up in the hubris and humility post

You ever notice you think you caught about a good foot of air, and someone else watching told you it was only two inches?

I just think about it like I'm hopping on my feet. I stand up a little and put my senter of gravity a little more forward. When the time comes, I just jump up in the clips and pull the bars up at the same time. I can only do it when going at a good clip and my back wheel tends to drift to the right so landings can be tricky, but I'm getting better. Right now I can only clear 6 inches or so but thats enough to get me over potholes
Everyone seen "Quicksilver", right?
The trick riders must have a very low gear ratio?

Just slow way down, then when your feet are at 3 o'clock and 9 o'clock pull up on the bars and jump with your feet in the clips. You can get some decent height, nothing like BMX but still decent. Doing it while you are going fast is hard though, I would recommend doing it really slow first. And don't try to get up curbs while you're learning.....

i always end up doing "nollies" when i try it (rear wheel comes up first). if i have to get up a curb, i prefer to just use the front wheel, then back wheel method. it's not fast, but it's easier than changing a flat.
