Ya'll missed a fun time!
We headed out right at about 10am from Steady Eddy's. It was pretty chilly this morning. We were not warm. That said, we rode out to Pleasants Valley and over to Cantelow. We rode right up the West side without any trouble. My wife said it wasn't any trouble at all. :thumb: Got to the top and we were nice and toasty. Climbing seems to do that.
Down the hill and chilly again. Ugh. Then back to Winters for lunch. We hung out for a little while to warm up and hoping that the sun would come out.
We started off a little before 1. Feeling even colder than the morning. Thankfully we stuck with it, before we got to the end of Winters Rd, the sun was starting to peek out and it felt really good. It was a quick jaunt back over to Cantelow Rd and then the climb up. Got to the top with jacket open and jersey half unzipped. Bundled back up again before heading back down the hill for the return to Winters where we got some hot chocolate before heading home.
We had a fun time. We have also decided that the East side of Cantelow is the harder of the 2 sides to climb. It's much easier to go up the West side where a good rhythm can be developed on the ascent rather than the irregular climbing on the East side.
Incidentally, climbing the West side, my HR never got above 163. Climbing the East side, my HR got up to 173. That ought to be someone indicative of something I suppose. Last time up the West side, I think my HR got close to 190. So I'm in much better shape!
