I want to ride the Folsom Lake Loop again. That ride kicked my butt when I rode in August. I'm a lot stronger now and in far better shape. I'm itchin to try it again...

When are you thinking of doing the ride?

Unknown. It depends on the weather. If we get a warm weekend day, that might work. If not, it might wait for spring. I really don't much like riding cold.

Was it really August? Geez! Time flies. I got out on a 40 miler yesterday and realized I could have used one more layer. Needless to say my chest was bright red for a couple of hours after... :winter2:

I actually began riding this route yesterday and bailed a bit into it because I didn't have sufficient layers... man it didn't even get out of the 40s yesterday!

That's a good ride. When you get bored with it (and want more climbing), take a right on 49 at Pilot Hill to Coloma. Go up Prospector and continue to Georgetown. Take 193 back to 49 and rejoin the original route. This will add about 30 miles and 3000-4000 additional feet of climbing. Good stuff. :thumb:

in under 3 hours, 2:58 i was surprised
i want to add that extra loop on it sometime soon
that ride already tired me out, adding 4000 feet will just kill me

Good work :thumb: Click here (http://trail.motionbased.com/trail/activity/7942301) for a variation of this ride I recently did. When you get to the to Pilot Hill (top of Salmon Falls climb), take a left at Rattlesnake Bar road. This is a 10 mile out and back, 20 miles total, with lot's of climbing both ways. After decending down 193 to the confluence, go right (not left) and climb out of the canyon via Old Forresthill Road. If you're still looking for more climbing, drop down to Lake Clementine for an extra 1000' over 2.2 miles. Then head into Auburn by crossing the Forresthill bridge.

I did this loop as a training ride for the Devil Mountain Double. It proved to be effective. :)

This bridge is great. You're not missing anything by going this route. I prefer this over weaving through traffic in downtown Folsom.

thanks dude!! i think im going to try adding on the old forresthill road next time, ive gone on it before on mountain bike when i was doing the clementine loop. im not ready to go down to george town yet maybe later on in the month, im doing this loop to train for the sierra century coming up

No problem. This is a great loop for training rides. There are so many options to add distance and climbing, plus there are plenty of stores along the way for refueling.

By doing Old Foresthill Road, you won't be getting additional climbing, you'll just be avoiding 193 up to Auburn, which is narrow and has lots of traffic.

Good luck on the Sierra Century!
