So, yesterday I was working in my yard, getting the last of the leaves up and picking up some pecans as well. I looked up and there were about 8 red tail hawks soaring in figure 8 patterns, obviously hunting for some lunch. It was pretty awesome sight. There is just something so magnificent about these birds, their commanding presence, their power, their determination....just absolutely amazing creatures. So, I go back to work and about 30 minutes later I take a short breather. I look up in time to see a solitary red tailed hawk soaring maybe 10 ft above the trees in my yard. He's hunting, but he's also watching me. I think my cap maybe looked a little like a rabbit or squirrel? anyway, he just soared around overhead for about 10 minutes. I could practically count the tail feathers as the were spread out by the updrafts it was soaring on. I could see the reddish brown stripe across those tail feathers that gave these birds there name.
And for a few moments, I wished I could be soaring alongside. Just awe inspiring creatures.

So...did you see anything awesome this weekend?

While I was in MO I saw a few Bald Eagles, it was pretty awesome. As for this weekend, I worked so I saw nothing cool.

Those birds are amazing, I'm envious. :)

I didn't get to see any raptors this weekend, but I did see some awesome love from someone special.

At least they weren't vultures circling you. j/k.

They are incredible to watch. My office window looks out over a huge field with a big prairie dog colony. There are always raptors of one kind or another hanging about.
