Foo - Along the Playing of Instruments While Riding Your Trainer...

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

Here's how I spent my night.
YouTube - Playing guitar while riding her bicyle on a trainer.
This is a lot harder than it looks. It's really hard to sing while riding. Physically and in lack of breath.

Dang, I may have to whip out the clarinet...
 Well done!
I bought a bottle of wine that has the poster over your shoulder as its label.

Hmm. Suddenly I have a mental picture of a group of people playing Rock Band, but each player is riding a bike on a trainer. Awesome.

Do it. I'm going pull out the flute next. I need to do another take of that song. I forgot half the lyrics.

How was it? I'd like to try it sometime, but I haven't able to find it in my neighborhood.

I was out of breath projecting my voice. I bet it takes about the same breath power to play a flute. :D

Don't know, it's still in the racks.
PM me and address and I'll send it to y'all.
I've had a rough evening, it'll feel good to commit a kindness.

Now to work out a drumset solution. I guess I could put a pad on a music stand to practice rudiments.

Whoa, did you not see Grumpy's tuba one? That was the inspiration.
How about a mandolin?

How about a hand drum that you could strap around your neck?
Cool!
I've always wanted one of those Martin backpackers.
Amazing... I just play an mp3 player.

In any case, since it's been done, time to move along.

That would depress me out that you could play it on a trailer and still be a way better mando player than me. :p

I love mine. She's special.

I got someone to play the spoons who said that exact same thing the other night. I reckon you could pull it off, as well. ;)

I could never do that. I crash from time to time just grabbing the water bottle out of the cage. Then again, I have rollers.

Go watch it, its in Whatcha Doing or something.

Ha! You're assuming that I can play the mando as well as I play guitar. I can't.
Then again, I have rollers.Ah, so you know the ultimate shame. Crashing into furniture.

If you can play it an eighth of how you play the guitar, you can play better than me... :p

Heh. I've found that the rollers are more dangerous than actually riding on the road, during rush hour, and riding the wrong way.

Excellent thread.
Now I want to play my upright bass while on a treadmill. Wait, no. That would be certain death for both of us.
I'm pretty sure I could pull off the first 16 bars of Samuel Barber on my fixed gear and viola da braccio, though. :thumb:

Wow. Well done!:)
You looked like your cadence was in time with your strumming - and yes, all that does look physically difficult.
I was trying to watch Grumpy's legs for this but I think it was just a different rhythmic thing going on (either that he was in a higher gear:p)
Yeah, it's one of those 76,825 posts in there. :P
here you go (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=55rJo4TBxck)
Grumpy's got a great speaking voice....he's reminding me of an actor here, but can't put my finger on it. Great player too, obviously...
Shadiyah - listening again....you have such a pretty singing voice!

I think high cadence would cause too much bouncing on the tuba. That was the toughest part of all..
first we had the 'pose like Shadiyah' thread ....I am sensing a "______ while riding a trainer" thread now...

You made the whole thing thing look a little too easy....guess they weren't kidding about you being a good climber - dang, dude that is some lung capacity!

I think its actually easier to have my legs moving at the same rhythm as the rest of my body. If I were to have different time signatures for my legs and arms, that would probably confuse me! You just have to turn your mind off of half your body and let it do its thing.

I'm decidedly not musical. At any rate, I can't imagine the logistics of playing my instrument while on the trainer. :innocent:

There's a photo of my Dad in his college yearbook (Class of 1959) of him sitting on a Triumph motorcycle facing backwards playing the bongo drums while his friend drives the bike around campus (facing forwards, of course).
Always wanted to pay homage to that somehow...starting to get some ideas now.

You can't say my opinion is incorrect, silly. It's my opinion! It's correct for me, but it doesn't have to be for you! :p What is the ultimate bike then?
