Dutch artist Job Koelewijn sure knows how to make an awesome bookcase. Behold his lemniscate bookshelf that represents the infinite power of books and learnin’

...and then the blog goes on to blow it by posting links to the two lamest bookcases I've ever seen in my life from Amazon.com. :( Damn my eyes!

I would not put books in the part where the shelves cross, at least on the top. Instead, I would build a slot car track on top of the bookshelf.

How do you get to the middle parts? Do you have to hop over?

But I guess design is more the emphasis here than practicality.

:( Dang. I was going to suggest slot cars.

Look up the artist. He's into radical interior design art installations.

That's very nice--I could spend all day there. Too bad there's no small fireplace for a cozy reading nook.

Too bad there's no small fireplace for a cozy reading nook.If they had room for that, they wouldn't need to put the books in the staircase. :P

Nice, but have you got anything in papyrus? The books are in the staircase, the papyrus is in the coat rack.

The guy who designed the "fireplace stairs" didn't last too long.

Yeah, this has serious design issues.

When he invents a Moebius infinity bookcase, then he's on to something.

It's not meant to be a functional bookcase.

Did the motorcycle and the Malibu get rear-ended by a freaking house?

Also, I hope the puddles by the front wheel are oil and/or gas. http://www.bikeforums.net/mysmiliesvb/mysmilie_15.gif

It might be a doormat if Hermann Rorschach lives there.

Hey, it's too early for Godwin's Law.

Anyway, a small space heater would work, as long as I could have a cat or two.

I think the staircase house would hold most of my books, although I would be searching for a place to put my bikes.

I keep one 6'x3' bookcase in my bedroom. A few titles scattered around my desk and a few in boxes.

Why keep books you'll never read anymore? Impress your friends? Pfft.

I stack bikes up where a sofa and bookcase used to be. Better.

If you were previously issued a nerd card, please deposit it in the Klein bottle by the door on your way out. ;)
