Have enjoyed riding a bike since my childhood. Got a little more "serious" in my college days with a Schwinn Le Tour, helmet, Diadora's, and some toe clips! Since then I have gone through a couple of bikes and now ride a Vision 40 in LWB mode. Somewhere between college and having young children I completed a handful of 100K's.
Raising children and some painful, but not debilitating, arthritis reduced my riding time for many years. In fact, last year I rode 0 miles. The kids are older now (1 in college and 1 in Jr. High). I was cleaning the garage in November and came to the corner where my Vision sat. It was then I decided to either ride it or sell it.
From what I've read in the forums I think I qualify as a Clydesdale. I am 6 ft., 230 lbs. My goal for 2009 is shed 40 pounds and to complete my first century ride in September.
Thus far I have brought the Vision indoors and put it on the trainer and began getting used to it again. Read Heft on Wheels. Purchased Chris Carmichael's Ultimate Ride. Drastically modified my diet. Found some "Gut Buster" intervals in Bicycling magazine; this routine has been great for helping me begin reducing my weight and returning my body to riding shape.
I look forward to getting involved here and hope I can be a help to someone. Keep me motivated September is a long ways off.
