I have a Sigma Sport HR monitor. I was doing intervals on the rollers yesterday and I noticed that about every 5 seconds, the HR would jump up by about 20-30 BPM. It would happen now matter how I positioned the chest strap or if I was at 120 or 170. It would always jump about every 5 seconds. I just changed the batteries and I had soaked the strap measuring area with tap water before putting it on. I'm pretty sure that my heart is not capable of going from 150 to 180 BPM in a fraction of a second, so I'm assuming it's my HR monitor. What can I do to fix this?

does it do that when you are on the road too or just the trainer? My guess is some sort of interference.

rf interference

also. if you want the best electrical contact, use spit and not tap water

put on dry hrm transmitter, slobber on index fingers, reach under and swipe the
electrodes. better conductivity than tap water. then of course once you are sweating
it takes care of itself
