I tried using the search function but did not come up with much info.
Any difficulties riding on these Hwys?
Thanks.

Bicycles are allowed on highways unless posted otherwise, however, these routes can be dangerous. If there are alternatives routes non-highway routes, I would consider them. In addition, private tollways are not subject to these laws.

Best person for an answer is LCIBrian. I would send him a PM.

79 isn't too bad, it it's pretty narrow and twisty though, especially after you get past the 371 on the way to julian. 371 is kinda the same, not the best shoulder but it has a decent ~7.5 mile climb with something like 15 or 1600 feet of climbing. after that it's rolling hills for a while. pretty fun. don't know much about hwy 74 except the ortega highway part of it. fun road for my mini =D

The 79 is a nice ride, but definitely avoid it Friday afternoons and Sunday afternoons. The reason being is all the people heading out to the desert and coming home in giant trucks, suvs, and motohomes.

In general I'd pick weekday mornings to ride it if possible. The combo of narrow windey roads with teen "bros" in large trucks is a treacherous one.

To answer Pam's question, they're all legal. I'll leave it to others to mention best times to ride. I've only done part of 79 between Julian and Warner Springs as part of the AYH Xmas Ride.
