NO, NOT ME!
The Loon is Minnesota's state bird. It is a diving bird, swims underwater, has a pointy bill for catching fish underwater, and it has a errie cry, that is usually heard in every wildlife film and horror movie. I've seen them and heard them in the Boundary Waters Canoe Area in Northern MN, along the Canadian border. I haven't ever seen or heard them this far south, but last night they were on Medicine Lake. It sounded like several were out there calling each other under the waning moon. That cry just added to the special night ahead.
I have posted about riding under the full moon, and I love the days right before and right after, as the moon is still full enough to reflect enough sunlight on the bike paths that if one wanted to live dangerously, could cut out the head lamp and ride under the "moon" light. It was difficult for me to resist, but once I got to the part of my commute that I am in the "safe" environs of the bike path, I hit the light switch and was plunged into that inky darkness where shadows fell over the bike paths, with the moon overhead, a sort of "high noon" after midnight. I had a blast! I added miles to my commute, and improved my time, another personal best, for my fixie. And what a feeling to hit the door with the endorphines rocking my brain!
Won't be as lucky tonight, they are calling for thundershowers, but the temps are still going to be up.
Loon. Moon. Noon. Hmmmm
