One of the better parks for mtb'ing, Otter Creek Park, in KY, is closed as of 1/1/09. The city of Louisville was responsible for the park and claims to have been losing $500k/yr maintaining the park. There have been talks of other entities taking over the park--such as Dept of Fish and Wildlife, or Ft.Knox, but noone yet is named as park admin. And no guarantee that it would remain open to mtb'ing if (when?) another entity acquires the park. Hopefully, few out here have to be faced with losing areas due to this economy.

You should look into putting together an organization like DORBA in Dallas. Its a volunteer
group of riders who take care of local trail maintenance.

The local velodrome park is closed 1 day per week now.

Yeah, I don't know what your mtb park has in it or what maintenence entails, but all our trails around here are maintained by volunteers. Our trails are for hiking as well, though, so there's a larger base of users to volunteer to take care of them.
