Winter Cycling - Buying Nokians in Toronto?

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
Today's skating rink conditions have only confirmed the necessity of studded tires. I'm looking to get a set of 700c W106 or A10's. (I hear good things about the Schwalbe Marathon Winters.)
Where in Toronto did you get yours?

I got my Schwalbe marathon winter tires from www.schwalbetires.com
its in Vancouver, so you don't have to worry about customs fees.
Urbane Cycles in TO carries Schwalbe and I wouldn't be surprised if they carried Nokian as well. You'd have to call and see what their current stock levels are.
MEC in Calgary carries Schwalbe studded tires so I assume the TO store will as well.
I have ordered direct from Schwalbe as the poster above me suggests and rec'd my tires in 3-4 days.

I think MEC is all out of 700c studded tires. Sweet Petes might have them. Call around to various shops.

If MEC has them at the warehouse in Vancouver you can order them into the TO store within a week at no extra cost.

I know dukes used to have them before the fire. Otherwise, Nokians are hard to find. I mail-ordered.
Sweet Pete's has 'em (Nokians and Schwalbe), Schwalbe has 'em too, but they moved their warehouse to the US (I got dinged by brokerage fees last time I ordered).
Good Luck!

I posted the below post in another thread just a few minutes ago. See below. Also, I like these tires because on either hardpack or or clean roads, you run them with higher pressure. Heavier snow, you lower the air pressure to engage the studs. See the below link from PWC for a picture. I have one set of 40's left at my store.

Looks like you got what you are looking for, but just a heads up, you should look at the A10's from Nokian. You remarked that you were looking for a lower rolling resistance which these have the lowest of the studded tires do to the fact of where they place the studs (more on the sides vs on the center of the tread). They also have a slightly lesser tread too. I own the 40's and love them. As for the issue of the size of the tire on your rim, I cannot speak to that personally, but I can tell you I had 37's on a pair of Ksyriums for a few weeks while I got new rims during the summer and had no problems.
Lastly, if anyone else is looking I can get you a pair of these for cheap (Nokian A10's). Probably around $40.00 each. Let me know. Would ship out of Buffalo NY.
Cheers,
Erik
