Hi all,
I just purchased a Cateye Astrale 8 computer with rear wheel sensor on my Sirrus. The manual says to mount the magnet on a spoke, but it does not say where to install on the spoke. Am I to assume that I should install it as centered as possible between the hub and the rim to get an accurate reading? Thanks!

Wait! I just realized that wherever it is on the spoke, it's always gonna hit the sensor at the same time. What an idiot I am. Useless thread to boot! Sorry y'all.

I recommend placing the magnet as close to the hub as possible...it might not really matter much but the closer it is to the rim, the more it will throw off the balance of the wheel. I think if you hit 65 or 70 mph, you will really notice it!

Yeah, I find reaching speeds of 70mph creates a slight wobble due to the magnet weight. Also my eyes start to water, which creates more wobble. Then my glasses start to slide off my face, causing me to grab them with one hand, which creates even more wobble.:D
CHEERS.

Install the magnet 180 degrees of the valve stem to help balance the wheel.

Don't feel bad, I wasn't sure if a computer would work with a front end shock, being that the sensor would be moving up and down. That was until my son just looked at me, shook his head and said, think about it, Dad. When the forks move up and down, don't you think the wheel with the magnet just might move up and down with it? Damn, I hate it when the kid is right...
