Classic and Vintage Bicycles: What's it Worth? Appraisals and Inquiries - 1980's Mercian 531c with campy nuovo record

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
I am thinking about selling my old Mercian bicycle. It was made for me in the early 1980's. My local bike shop gave me a description to put on Ebay. What price sould I ask for it?
52 cm Mercian frame made of Reynolds 531 tubing
full campy nuovo record
mavic rims
needs 700c tires to ride

Hrm, put up some pics and check out this site for current and previous listings of Mercians; just go to "cloud" and choose "Mercian": http://www.jaxed.com/cgi-bin/mash.cgi?cat=cpbike
If I were you, I would list it locally on Craigslist first as eBay can sometimes be a hassle. When you take photos, get some close-up shots of the lugs because, if I know Mercians, they are going to be very ornate.

this is a very difficult question .
i myself and a few other people i know have had framesets & whole bikes on ebay in the last couple of weeks and no bidders . Not one sale !
Christmas time is coming and people are holding onto their money .
i would keep it if i were you . but if you must sell it try in the spring time . the sping cycling will start up and people will be looking for new rides , or aditional rides and im sure it would be easier to sell and possibly make a bit more than expected .
it really depends on what condition , componentry , age, collectability and so on , and ofcourse listed the at the right time . pictures would be a great help and a bit more detailed info .
hope that helps ,
Cheers

That's just it; Mercians range from quite simple in design to quite elaborate. They are almost without exception, however, well made. It would really help to know the lug type - ideally via pics. Condition also makes a big difference. Unfortunately, Mercian's are some of the most undervalued bikes on the vintage market. This is especially odd since they're not an obscure marque.
