Northeast - What Fools These Humans Be

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

I played golf once this past season and didn't think much about it. But since the clubs went into the basement, I have dreams about the stupid game.
Its the same with the bikes. Didn't ride nearly as much as we would have liked. Too lazy, if the truth be told. But now that they're in the basement on trainers, I for one will drive myself crazy waiting for Spring. Is there a cure for this human condition?

Puck, go to the winter riding forum and start reading.
For me, the cure has been a $50 reflective construction guy jacket and some $9 base layers of synthetic material to keep from getting sweaty.
Having a ton of reflectivity and lights on my rig has taken away all of the excuses for not riding.
Pick one of your weekly activities and make it a bike-only ride. If you have no weekly activities (church, barbershop quartet practice, bowling league...) GET ONE! And ride your bike to it!
I now do 5 15 mile r/t night rides per month, and feel closer and closer to making that switch to bike commuting. With the right clothing and preparation, waiting fro spring is meaningless now! (well... that's a lie-- I sure look forward to it, but mainly for better light and more company on the roads.)
Having a beater old bike might help you. $50 on cl, and you can leave your good bikes on the trainer.

Good suggestions.
I sag way off in wet and wicked cold winter weather.
I'd add, get a riding buddy so you can coerce each other.
Set a mileage goal. Why do you want to ride anyway? Lose weight, set a weight vs. riding miles goal.
Track your goal. When I leave it to memory I rode 300 miles last week and all of it sprints... When I log it it was a few 20 milers and a heart rate of 110.
