Grrrr.. i cant take this anymore!! My chain is greased, but my chain just keeps skipping. Like, i'll change a gear, and then when i press down on the pedals hard, the chain skips, thing is, i dont know what its getting stuck on, or if its getting stuck on anything at all! All i know is this needs to stop! It's worse when im in some gears, then others. Like when im in 7th gear, its skips like crazy. Someone please help!!

Sounds simple but I would tighten the cable and if that don't work, look at replacing the cassette.

odds are that the chian needs tightening? shift to your lowerest gear and see if hte cable is tight or not...if not tight cable needs tightening.

Thoroughly clean chain, cassette, chainrings. Then lubricate chain.
If that does not work, could be excessive wear on chain, cassette teeth or even chainring teeth. Time to replace some of that!
Dirt is the enemy of a smooth running drivetrain!

It's not the cassette, because i just bought a new one a few weeks ago, same with a new chain....hmmm, i guess it must be dirt.

Could it be the nut behind the wheel needs tightening?

Or could it be that your derailleur needs to be adjusted, since your cassette is new?

Yep sounds like drivetrain adjustment time, or possibly a bent hanger.

this is where it gets strange...the chain skipping problem is worse on some days than others. For example, in the morning sometimes, (when it's chilly) the problem is worse, but during the afternoon, it's less trouble.

Perhaps the "grease" on the chain has had a chance to warm up and is acting more like a chain lube? Never grease a chain

I had the same problem. My cables had stretches.. just tigthened them a bit and it's better.

How old is the chain? Do you tend to hammer in the same gear all the time? Are you only 14 years old or something?

^ The chain is 3 weeks old.
I'm changing gears all the time.
I am soon to be 15 (and i don't see what that had to do with my chain skipping)
