Mountain Biking - Mountain ski-bike

Anybody else see this? It's a bunch of MTBs retrofitted with skis.

It's not as fun as it looks...actually it doesn't look all that fun.
And going up hill is nonexistent.

Landings jumps looks tough...

that looks awesome. I'm not sure if it was the same company's equipment, but there was a feature in the on-flight Southwest Airlines magazine about the same thing.

Uphill is sure to be a gut wrenching experience, but why not? If you're not at a ski-resort, there are still plenty of groomed mountain roads out west.

I have all the pieces assembled for my 'home-brew' version; just got to get busy in the shop fabbing the ski mounts.

Nice that Mt.Hood allows them on trail.

The X-track (the treaded snowbike) actually probably safer than skiing for most people (at least out west in powder). You'd have a hard time getting a twisting injury on your leg, and I seriously doubt you'd be able to go fast enough to really be in danger from hurting yourself on a tree. I doubt even more you'd feel safe enough to go really fast.

East coast is another matter. You would have to be suicidal to try that on blue hill (in Boston) or any of the other ice mountain type resorts out there.

Used to live in Boston! Sharpening ski edges was a way of life for me in Boston, most people in Utah think the metal bit on the edge of your ski is to keep the p-tex from getting scratched by the ski racks on UTA (Utah transit authority) buses.

To the east's credit, people out west don't appreciate that conditions on the east coast can be pretty good, they just often aren't.
