Mountain Biking - Buying expensive seat post?

Hey all I just bought a Race Face Diabolus seatpost. Here is my question. Don't ya hate buying an expensive seatpost just to hack 5 or 6 inches off of it?
Thats like $5 per inch you have to cut off

Yeah...but why didn't you buy the short one? Or does that only come in one size.
I just did something similar. Bought a thomson (luckily I get them CHEAP) and will be cutting off 2.5inches :)

You aren't gonna let me live that down are ya ;)..I need em tall but they need to be just right cause of the interupted seatpost.

Yep, I run Thomson's on all my bikes.
I was looking at the Race Face one. How do you like it so far. Pretty beefy? Haven't seen/touched one yet.

Yea, it's pretty beefy and not real heavy. I think this should out last my a@@.
