Hi all,
I've been a regular (but intermittent) viewer. Time to come out and join the group.

I'm 49, live in a small rural town in a straw bale house in a semi desert with two Australian Cattle Dogs and some bikes..my personal favourite is a singlespeed GT Peace 9r.

We ride a variety of local trails, including the Swartberg Pass (I think it's about a 900m climb). I have recently completed an unsupported 1000km solo across Bushmanland and the Kalahari. I intend doing the Freedom Challenge next year (www.freedomchallenge.org.za)

I love old bikes, particularly those made in South Africa. Ironically we no longer have anyone producing large numbers of bikes locally - on a continent that really needs them- even more than the North!

I have a blog (irregular!) http://johannrissik.blogspot.com/

Any cyclists who pass through here are welcome to look me up.

And right now I need advice on how to restore a completely neglected Brooks saddle. The steel frame is fine, but the leather is dry and torn. It probably needs new hide......

Welcome to the forums.

Your need for ideas concerning your Brooks saddle might get more meaningful replies in the Mechanics, Commuting, or the Long Distance. The latter two seem to have the most fans of Brooks and the mechanics know everything... :-)
