Can I run a front disc wheel in a triathlon? What conditions would allow or preclude such a wheel? I understand that front disc wheels are still a no-no outside of the track, but as I see front wheels getting more aero with deeper and deeper sections, I can't help but wonder when people will say, "well a disc wheel wouldn't be too much squirrellier than the 120mm-rim wheels I'm running now, and it'd be faster so I'll do it!"
Oh, and this won't be a true disc wheel; rather, I'm considering my current box-section rim with a wheel cover since I cannot afford even a 30mm aero wheel.

According to both US tri and US cycling, the answer is never... The rim shape also dictates how sensitive the wheel will be to side wind, something that you really can't control with a disc...

Even if you could, you shouldn't.
Still a big handling difference between a disc and a 120.
Not that I'd recommend a 120 front for very many conditions...
Nope. It's right in the rulebook. Front wheels must be spoked and no wheel covers on anythig but the rear.

What USA Cycling rule says this?
