Can someone please take a look at the pics of this bike and tell me about what model year it is? I'm guessing it's prolly about 3 years old...making it a 2001 model.....that sound about right??

It's close to the end of the auction so I really didn't figure I could reach the seller before it ended. Was thinking this might be a good starter MTB for me if I could get it for $300ish or less.
Thanks In Advance!

I don't think I'd spend $300 or even $200 (keep in mind the $50 shipping charge) for a used bike I've never ridden. The 4900 is a good bike, but it looks to be a few years old and the frame is aluminum. It could have stress fractures by now, and if that is the case when you inspect the bike, you are outta luck. For a minimal increase ($350-$400) you could get a new bike (say a Trek 4300 or Specialized hardrock). Even with lesser components it would be worth having a new bike that is honored by a warranty and backed by your local bike shop. Good luck.

dragracer, my guess is that it is a 1999 or possibly an early 2000. I'm judging this off of the 24 speeds it has.

Older than 2002, based on the paint. That's when I got my Trek. I'm guessing 2000, maybe '01. I wouldn't pay $300 for it. $200, maybe a bit more, if I could ride it first.
