2nd race. Got a good start. 4 minutes in on a fast, flat section. I had been drafting and went around the guy as we were headed for a long set of stairs and wanted the position (I think this would have put me in 5th).

BAM!

bad noise.

The stick managed to annihilate one spoke, but was stopped by the 2nd. This also stopped me in a friggin hurry.

It also modified my seat for easier remounts.

I hopped back up, put my chain on and started off again, no longer in 5th.

I finished the race like this -- my wheel making a horrible sound every time I braked. Ended up 9th of 44. It was a C's race (see the part about my 2nd ever). Good times

The Redline forks that go that frameset were aluminum.
I should still be OK though.

i'm not worried about it. i'd just never heard of an aluminum fork before. now i have. and now I also have to replace some spokes. As far as I can tell, the nipple hole in the open pro rim is fine. That's a cheap fix
