Great Lakes - Gotta love those long range forecasts, NOT!

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
Well the weather people sure let us down today. All week the forcast was for a sunny dry day and we all planned to ride outside, instead it's pouring rain and cold!!!!!! Another day of sitting inside and riding the trainer. Hey honey, where's the beer??

I'll take -21C and anything (snow, wind), over +3C and rain.

Every time someone who lives in a sunny mecca complains about how cold they are or how terrible their weather is...
I figure it's a kind of moral support.
:D
We just got some real cold here as we were enjoying nicer temps than many people living much farther south... I was still wearing shorts a few weeks ago but now the hammer seems to have dropped.

What is wrong with you people and rain? I love rain. I'm not sure if my bikes shares the same feelings, but who cares. SHE'S GONNA BE MY TRAINING BIKE SOON ENOUGH!
Anyways, my feet and ankles are all swollen now because my nubs got frozen and I immediatelly hopped in an almost-boiling-hot shower. Hello swelling.
The bottom of my foot is so swollen that my toes have to rach pretty hard to touch the floor.

Neither can I.
I paid $1000 for my race bike (50% off, brand new)
I paid $400 for my MTB (originally $1600, less than 50 miles on it)
I paid nothing for all three of my track framesets that I've owned, and only ~$700 on two wheelsets, drivetrains and Dura-Ace groupsets
I paid nothing for my commuter
I paid next to nothing for my new Giant
and I get my helmets, clothes and tires free.
If you're young and have ambition, there is no shortage of people willing to extend a hand to you.

Between working at a bike shop, getting discounts at three shops I do not work at, being on racing teams and having friends who ride, it's actually pretty easy.
Trading is key, also.
Remember that guy a few years back who started off with a big paperclip and traded stuff until he got a house?

Bike shop job + old guys with good jobs that are on your team and like you = so many deals.
I got my bike with 10 speed DA, race wheels, and a powertap wheel set for less than 2.5k with everything said and done.
