Anyone tried 650s on an 08 SJ yet? Not sure I want to do this (or could convince the wife I need new wheels for my new bike!), but I'm curious about the results and fit of anyone who has.

I'm still not impressed with 650b's. I've read too many poor reviews on all of the rims and tires. Yes even the newer ones. The newer ones are better, but some people still roll them off the rim.
Maybe in a few years the R&D will have it honed and the technology will be there, but for now...I think the 26'ers on a dually is plenty adequate unless you're gonna get new frame and fork and go 29'er dually.
When they start making 650b 729's and 2.5" wide tires...I'll give it some more thought.
MTBR has some info on the 650b's on a stumpy...I believe it was a success.
What gets me is that there are so many people who whine and can't fit the Neomoto in their frame, so they go with the Quasi. That's only 2" wide. You could just run a 26x2.35 and have more volume allowing you to run less pressure w/o pinching out...hence you would get a better ride and more traction with 26x2.35" versus the 27.5x2".
Weight difference? Negligible when you add in the extra spoke length and rim diameter.

650B is nothing new to MTB. 650B MTB wheels have been around for eons. The FIRST salsa MTB ever made was a 650B. It just took a nap for several years. Honestly, MTB wheels should have always been 650B.
