Mountain Biking - Didn't know whether to laugh or cry

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

So me and a friend of mine have been pondering some of the tracks on Tomewin, and if there's any way to create a certain link from the north side of the mountain to the track across the top of the ridge. Well, today we decided to spend some time checking it out. After several false starts and dead-ends (including the one I personally thought would be our saviour), we find this track goes up a steep gradient, crosses two gates (representing the NSW/Qld Border), descends a little, from where we could see the link-up with Glengarrie "road". Trouble was, we were now on private property without actually realising it.
Now while the land owners were pretty good about it this time, I'm not sure we could ever repeat the trick. So while we found the link we wanted (sort of), we can't use it again!
Didn't know whether to laugh or cry.

I would do both. You got out but next time you go in you might not be so lucky.
What are the trespassing laws like down there? Same as the states (shoot on command) or more like Canada (free as a jailbird with no real laws to protect civilians?). ;)
If it aint posted on the back side, it ain't posted.

I wasn't so much worried about "not getting out". We always felt as though we could make a quick getaway if need be (particularly as there was really only one way to go from the top of the hill, and that was down).

To be honest I've no idea. I'm not sure they're allowed to shoot at you, but I imagine the cops have got some powers to take action if you are trespassing.
Still, that route had some serious potential...
I've popped out on peoples property plenty of times, no one cares at all and recoginse that it was a mistake (I usually just appologise if they catch me). You just can't hit the same property consistanly.

I just read an article in MacCleans Magazine, apparantly courts here in Canada, and Austraila quote precedents, who woulda knew... Our lawyers can read up side down!!
Besides that, you may or may not get shot... depends on how close this guy's neighbors are and if they are within earshot, do they really care?
Remember that platnum rule treat others as they expect to be treated...

That's why I don't feel guilty when I pop out on other people's property. People have poped out in my backyard before and I really couldn't care less, even if I'm outside on my back lawn.
