Tandem Cycling - Anybody know framebuilder G.L. Berry?

I have an old tandem that was built by G.L. Berry. Great work, and I'd like to find out more about the builder and the specs of the frame.

Not sure if there's any connnection, but it's the only 'Berry' that comes immediately to mind.

Back in the late 70s and early 80s there was a custom frame builder by name of Glenn Berry here in Tucson. He did some fine work and we actually got to test ride what perhaps was the first mountain bike tandem ever built in the USA.
We wrote an article for DoubleTalk on the test ride of the BATT (Berry All Terrain Tandem).
One of our sons actually still has his Berry hardtail mt. bike . . . and he won't part with it.

This sounds like this could be the one and same builder as I think there is an AZ pedigree to our bike. Would you happen to remember the logo that Glenn Berry used? Our head tube sports a nice sculpted badge done in what looks like brass that depicts either little blackberries or raspberries with matching decals on the down and seat tubes.

Glenn Berry did have a berries-type logo!
While he was building in Tucson he had a small shop just off 4th Ave, near downtown.
The mt. bike tandem we tested had a double diamond frame with an extra downtube above the regular downtube. Both top tubes (this was a male/male comnfiguration) were sloping, a then unheard of idea. It had a round boob tube and cantis front and rear.
The frame was built of Reynolds 531 and was painted a glossy black with some gold highlights. If we recall correctly, it had a fancy space-age type air brushing on the boob tube.
A vey nice and great handling tandem, both offroad and on road. As a matter of fact, a couple rode that tandem on a five day tour from the Grand Canyon to Mexico.
Lost track of Glenn Berry and believe he moved to Texas in the mid '80s.
Is your tandem a mt. or road bike; how did come to acquire it?

Here are some pics. The captain's seat tube is 25" and the stoker's is 24 1/2" This is the original paint, circa 1973? Forks have decals for Reynolds 531 DB and I would guess that Reynolds 531 was used for the entire frame. The stoker's stem is the only thing I don't care for and am considering cutting off the portion of the stem tube that rises above the mixte downtubes and using a conventional stoker stem attaced to the captain's seat post. (Comments?) That also might make my wife more comfortable on it. She feels too claustrophobic with the current position.

Before you cut that unique stoker stem mount make sure you have a stoker stem (adjustable would be nice) mount that will fit that diameter seatpost. If you do cut that unique mount make sure you plug plug the hole.
